Not quite sure how you mean "worse reputation".
The Marine in our family is one of the kindest, smartest, most gentle, moral, devout Christian, dedicated Marine I've ever met. I grew up near both Naval and Marine bases and have seen obnoxious and drunken behavior addressed to local women.
I've also looked into the scared eyes of the boys in uniforms on the eve of their shipping out to war, as they grasp for a woman and a night to "remember" their home in the USA.

I have seen boys have their head shaved - and within months return, not as a boy, but as a responsible man. Disciplined, trained, all business standing so straight in his uniform. Even his speech exudes respect and authority with his clear strong voice speaking Sir or Mam.

Now where I live there are Army and Air Force military personnel. Under the uniform coming from city and small towns I see an honor and a respect for our country that is sorely lacking in the carloads of disrespectful younger people I see and hear driving up and down on a friday night or those who do their deeds by night with spray paint on others personal property. Marines have a worse reputation???
They have more guts and a sense of duty than most of us.

Don't tell Sgt., he's Army, lol ! The Marine's are The Few, The Proud... and they are bada** !!! I am not sure about now, but 20 yrs ago, when I was in JROTC, I know the Marine Boot Camp last longer than Basic did for other branches, 13 weeks as opposed to 11. I also think, that it was a bit tougher! i had the opportunity to visit Parris Island, a "field trip" was what they called it, one i will never forget, and I will never forgot Sgt. Vick, I learned more in the time i was there than i did throughout all of high school! Marines are the most awesome people you will ever meet, you just don't ever want to be against them in battle!!! (and the Dress Blues are the best looking uniform)

i'm guessing that your brother and his acquaintances are new to the Corps, or are in a wrestle MOS and don't actually artwork with many lady Marines. In 14 years service, I even have in all probability worked with a minimum of a hundred and fifty lady Marines, and probable 20 might have been considered under suited, a especially sturdy proportion. regrettably, there replaced right into a time the place lady Marines regarded to be sexual rejects from the civilian international and joined to be between the two hundred women human beings between 5000 sexy Marines, ensuring even the homeliest a mild furnish of complicated... Marine business enterprise. those days are, fortunately, long long gone, and the final public of lady Marines are very respected by ability of the male Marines that particularly understand them.

Probably no worse than any other combat unit in the free world. Every unit has a bad egg or two but you cant condem the majority for the actions(alledged) of a few
Its a case of the Tall Poppy syndrome, get too good and some people just want to critisize and knock you down

We must remember these are Combat soldiers who gotta do a job a lot of civvies aint got the balls to

I thought they were viewed very favorably. The Marines I have known are among the most honorable people.

I can see how an enemy would hate the USMC: Hard charging Devil Dogs, Fight like demons, Destroy and Demoralize our enemies, A Small Force with a Big Fighting Spirit.

I'm not a Marine, but I am very proud of the USMC. They don't always get the newest equipment. But they do more with less.

Give a Marine a weapon and a mission, and you have a very powerful weapon system.

They are the most visible of the Special Forces.

America is proud of her Marines! The USMC is a major component of American Freedom.

Individual Marines? No, they do not have a worse reputation than any other services people.

The overall Corps? Well, they are known for never giving any other service credit for anything. And they do spend a great deal of time spouting off about the Corps being 'greatest fighting force', even when it is only the smallest part of the greatest fighting force. The Corps is not big on teamwork and it has an institutional tendency to Blue Falcon the other services.

There's an old saying that
goes like this:

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!"
Eleanor Roosvelt. 1945

Another one that says:

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem."
President Ronald Reagan, 1985

And my favorite...

"Take me to the Brig. I want to see the "real Marines".
USMC Major General "Chesty" Puller.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEVIL DOGS! OOHRAH!!!

I have heard of that too.
I know three people in the Marines and they are all perverted and ignorant. But i shouldn't judge the Marines just because of few rotten apples.

I know one Army guy and he is pretty cool and my brother is in the Navy and he is the sweetest brother ever!
haha
either way... all millitary branches are good and all of them have a few rotten apples.
