How do you make op art patterns?

I am looking for maybe a book or a website or something that shows you step by step how to lay out an op art pattern like Vasarely or somebody.

There are computer programs that do that. Adobe illustrator has it build in even, or visit http://artpad.art.com/artpad/painter/ ... but the hand made version is pretty simple too.

Cut out a square. This is your base.
Now cut out a shape, any shape and ad that on the opposite side of where you removed it. You will end up a form that you can duplicate and will fit in that form like a jigsaw puzzle.
