What if you live a humble, simple life. You go to work everyday, you are happy, you have many wonderful friends, a large loving family, you never commit any crimes, you help the poor, you excersise, eat healthy and donate your time and money to charities...and yet..you are an atheist because you dont accept Jesus in your heart. Your telling me this person has no chance of living an eternity with God, should he really exist?

That's why some literalist interpretations of the Bible belong in the trash bin.

I live nearly exactly as you describe, and I ain't afraid of no gods.

If this 'abundant life' you describe is true, you MAY be living the life Jesus communicated was possible. His 'way' was demonstrated through the psychological metaphors of his life events. However, his primary message was that we each have an authentic/Christ Self with a passion and purpose that we are supposed to fulfill. This requires the death/end of our conditioned ego identity for its fulfillment in reality. Are you living the life you were born to live? Are you experiencing an 'eternal' sense of 'full aliveness??" If not, then you better get started remembering and reuniting with that authentic Self within.

THAT is the Christ in your heart metaphor.

That's what the Bible says, yes. Do I believe that? Ehh...not so much. I can't conceive of a God who'd ban people who live good and righteous lives to an eternity in Hell.

Simply put, I find it hard to believe that God would have Serial Killers and rapists who get into heaven just because they 'repent' in the nick of time, but send Gandhi, The Buddha and other nameless good souls to hell because they didn't accept Christ.

I personally think there are many paths to God, and that God provides them to people in ways they can understand.

Of course, I'm about to get a whoooole lot of thumbs down for this, but what the heck.

I've studied World Religions and I have a great deal of respect and admiration for all of them.

I love God and I believe he loves all his Children and accepts all who do their best to live good honest and loving lives. :)

You have no chance because in spite of those things you still have not dealt with your sin of unbelief. If you do not believe there is a Jesus, then you don't trust Him because He does not exist to you. He does exist and He says He exists but you have made Him a liar by not believing. You would not want to spend eternity with a liar would you? Besides, why would you want to live eternity with someone you wanted nothing to do with while you are here. You don't love Him, are not thankful to Him, do not trust Him, do not acknowledge Him, want nothing to do with His family, and you have ignored Him all your life. So again I ask why would you want to spend eternity with Him?

doesn't sound like that simple a life to me but I wouldn't worry about a god much less a mean ignorant god.

Yep, that is what the Bible tells us. There is no way to the Father (God) except through Jesus.

The deal with God is that not one is good. That is the whole premise; we cannot earn our salvation. So being a good person doesnt count. Its very easy here on earth to think it does (I do too) but in all reality, what we do is not what gives us eternal life. It is what He did and does through us.
