The truth is not a WHAT, but a WHO.

"I am the way, the truth and the life" said Jesus Christ. Amen!

When Pontius Pilate asked, "What is truth?" he had the answer standing right in front of him, in the person of Jesus Christ.

What is truth?

Depending upon who you ask today, the question "What is Truth" will get you very different answers and, perhaps, lead to even more questions. Here are some current thoughts on truth:

There is No Absolute Truth.

But wait a minute! This statement is making an absolute claim to truth. It defeats its own claim.

Truth is Relative.

Does that include the statement that truth is relative? It would have to, making this statement invalid since no claim to truth can be made by this statement, including the claim that truth is relative.

You have Your Truth and I have My Truth.

And if your truth and my truth are in conflict, what do we have? Can there be conflicting truths? If so, then how do you determine what is valid? If my truth is that there is no God, and your truth is that there is a God, does that really effect whether there is a God or not? Saying that we each have our own truth may make us comfortable but we would have to not care about truth to say this, because no matter what my experience or your experience tells us, the truth exists as it is.

Truth is within You.

Seek truth within yourself and you are back to what your experience tells you or to what you want to be the truth. Your perception may affect you and be true to what you want to believe, but it does not affect what the truth really is. Your experience and belief could be telling you that something false is true.

So what is Truth?

If you're tired of wondering or of playing these mind games, consider that maybe truth is not all that complex. Maybe it is something a child can grasp. Maybe truth is a person. The God-Man Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Will you be like Pilate, who asked "What is truth?" (John 18:38) right after Jesus said to him, "And I came to bring truth to the world. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true," (John 18:37b)?

Or will you be like the Roman officer who saw Jesus die on the cross and said, "Truly, this was the Son of God!" (Mark 15:39)

As Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, " (John 11:25) and "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved; and shall go in and out, and find pasture," (John 10:9).

What do you mean.. there is lots of truths in life... how can there be a general truth about life? I believe the truth is there is no real death only the death of spirit! I believe there is reincarnation.. I believe many things. I don't have a clue what you mean by general truth! Truth of what? In my view your question is empty... without knowledge... without substance... nothing in it to indicate what you are asking! Truth of what? Whose truth? Religion? Vegetarianism? Spirtualism? What are you asking? What the heck is General Truth? For me my truth is Life is miserable... people calling me things I don't see myself as.. saying I said things I never said! People seeing me opposite to the way I see myself. Quite often I feel I'm in a prison that I can't get out of. If I try I wind up on pills like Risperdol or Seroquel. Life is a type of Hell to me! Very few people are nice to me! If it weren't for the few nice people I'd give up on life altogether! I've been in a business.. took all the education I needed to run a business.. yet someone who never took a course.. did the same type of business and is far ahead of me! She knows something I don't or is born under a good luck star. I seem to be under an adversity star or curse! the only general truth that I can think of that is of me and people that I know of!

The truth is that man can do nothing without God and God knowing this, sent us His only son Jesus Christ as an assurance to us that if we believe in Him we will have an everlasting life.

(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14) 13 The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the [true] God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole [obligation] of man. 14 For the [true] God himself will bring every sort of work into the judgment in relation to every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad.

I like the story of the philosopher who was ordered to summarize all of the hundreds of holy books in his religion while standing on one leg. He did so by saying "Treat others as you wish to be treated. Do not treat others as you would not want to be treated. All the rest is commentary."*

I think that's as deep and as true and as much as needs to be said to explain my theory of life, the universe, and everything in a single post on a message board. "Be nice when you can, don't be a jerk if you can help it at all, and learn to find humor in everything".

*The philosopher is usually said to be explaining Judaism ca. 100 AD, but the same story appears in other cultures and religion at other times in history.

I think you got to have a cause & a purpose or all is in vain. I want my life to effect others in a positive way.

What I perceive to be the truth. Life itself is only a perception. Nothing can absolutely be proven to be real.
