I just read the Jefferson Bible. Thomas Jefferson re wrote the bible, taking out all the "supernatural" thing in it, and soley focused on the teachings and the life of Jesus, as the bible writes it. It is a great read, and very interesting. Do you Christians find this to be a travesty that Thomas Jefferson improved your holy book?

Jefferson was a deist.
If you are a deist then it's probably good, otherwise it's not good.

Sounds interesting to me from an academic point of view, I wouldn't consider it a travesty, but it would be an incomplete version, hardly an improvement from my point of view. To many Christians it would be like an biologist hearing that the parts about cells were being removed from a biology textbook. On the other hand, if it will encourage people to read about the life of Jesus and His teachings in the Bible afterwards, I can hardly complain.

No. Jesus' life and teachings are highly worthwhile, for anyone to study. If Jefferson, or you, or anyone else, doesn't have a perspective which finds meaning in the miraculous, then the supernatural elements of the gospels are a stumbling-block and it's best to ignore them. That said, if you look past the literalness of the miracle stories, there are deep meanings and truths to be found there.

Peace to you.
