Please do not be offended by my questions, I am simply asking as an observor who was raised Catholic.
Do you think that there is a proper place for women in Catholicism?
I think that women are a side note - that the bible and theological answers are for supporting a patriachal society.
What do you think women's role is in Catholicism?
Is there a sense of equality?
Can women expect equality only in a domestic and reproductive atmosphere?

All I can say is that, being a woman, I'm GLAD I'm not Catholic.

the blessed mother would indicate the catholic position regarding women very well i would think. secondly the church has several females considered as doctors of the church(not medical doctors but highly regarded theologians) and countless female saints. you can try knxt television/ewtn and you will find many programmes headed by women teachers of the faith, for example rosalind moss is hosting "reasons for our hope" a bible study on the gospel of luke with two other ladies and recently finished was a programme hosted by frances hogan covering the gospel of john........try www.knxt.tv for listings or www.ewtn.com

god bless.

for the lay person, the role is the same whether male or female or atleast it should be,some people don't practice what they preach etc......but the church respects women and they are as important as men.

Lets start with the episode of the Forbidden fruit. Eve tempted adam to have the fruit, and because of this, she was ounished by getting labour pains during birth. Its honourable to be a mother, forget taking it as a punishment!
The Bible says in Corinthians that if a woman uncovers her head , her hair should be shaved off!
Another place i read sttates that men are above women.

Unfortunately you are in the Roman Church where there is little future for women in the priestly hierarchy. The Old Testament is irretrievably patriarchal where as the New Testament tends towards equality but not 100%. There are women church leaders in the Anglican, Baptist and Methodist churches in the UK.

originally christian services were run by women, in the home. But, over time, men took over and pushed the women aside. The bible was written by men-so of course it supports men. although there are some theories that some of the bible was written be women. I hope that in the future, it becomes more equal.

There are more women who have suffered the stigmata than men. What does that tell you? Very few stigmatists are priests.

edit: look at the ads that pop up on the side there. You don't see men advertised like that. Sorry to have to point this out, but women, whether Catholic or not, tend to be more vulnerable than men. No matter what kind of society.

No. There is no equality. There are only differences.

look, virgin Mary had a great role in the bible and we all know that during the writing days of the Bible, women are inferior in the whole world so the expectancy of the contentment of the Bible is what it is now.

I should hope not. If the church is to survive, it must continue to adapt. Rolling it backwards under JP2 was not wise- the elimination of Liberation Theology in Latin America was horrid.
