I am a first year Girl scout leader..My daughter wanted to join and there wasnt any leader in my area so i vollunteered.These are Junior GS...These girls just seem to want to argue with each other and talk constantly..I cant seem to find a way to get them to sit and listen..I am about at my wits end after 4 weeks and about to give up but I really want to try to give this a fair shot. Any ideas please???

Teach them the girl scout quiet sign. Hold up 3 fingers high in the air this means it's time to be quiet. We have a reward system in our troop. We call them brownie bucks you could call them scout bucks. Anyways, the girls get bucks for wearing their vest, bringing folders, good behavior, they loose bucks for unacceptable behavior. I've also seen this done with beads. You can find these at makingfriends.com

Remember to praise good behaviors in front of the group, and ignore poor behaviors, and correct bad behavior in one-on-one counseling. Girls seek attention, and rewarding good behavior will lead to more good behavior.

1) my mom used to do this, but whisper when you say something really important. so that they cant hear you unless they listen.
2) do a clapping game. clap in a pattern, and get them to follow it to get their attention.
3) turn the lights on and off until they look at you.

once you taught it to them, hold up the girl scout quiet sign(3 fingers all touching one another) and just wait for them to follow you. they are wasting THEIR time by not listening or paying attention
