Love involves concern for the other person's welfare and feelings. Passion and intimacy. Most people settle for the fleeting experience of romantic love; when two ppl believe they 'need' each other.... even think something bad could happen if they aren't together. Romantic love is difficult to maintain; it's hard to live up to the other person's expectations all the time.
When you love someone, you don't try to control or manipulate them. You don't try to "change" them. Leave that up to God. It is a powerful thing and can bring about change, but love doesn't put demands on ppl.
When you're in love, you feel complete. You feel wonderful. However, it is usually a temporary feeling and you feel devastated when it leaves you. You may become depressed and crash and burn. Real love cannot be taken away from you. That is God's unconditional love.

Love is the ability to want to swim across the ocean to give your loved one a drink of water. Or to walk through fire to bring them a flower. Its irrational, and sometimes silly. It makes you talk like a baby, or crawl on your knees. Love is the human emotion that we all crave. We want love from our friends, relatives, and spouses.

I think I would define love as a noun. It's the feeling we have when we look at our sleeping child. It's the emotion that leaves us breathless by a certain look from our spouse. It's the hole in our spirit when a loved one passes.
