First of all, I've been having really bad headaches for about a week straight, pretty much every day. Now, just a few minutes ago I experienced something really strange. Suddenly, I had to clench my jaw and tense my neck and my arms started sort of twitching. It almost felt like an uncontrollably strong urge to do these things. This went on for a few minutes and then it stopped, and I tried to figure out what was going on with me and I found I can't deliberately do any of the things my body was doing for those few minutes. It sounds strange, but it was like I lost control of what my body was doing briefly. Does anyone know what might be wrong with me? Should I see a doctor?

I'm a 19-year-old girl with no existing health problems (that I know of), by the way.

I haven't been put on the insurance of my work and can't afford to see a doctor, so I want to know if this is serious enough for me to see one and how urgent it is.

I was fully concious and aware during the whole thing, by the way. And afterward I found it difficult to speak, like I was repeating words and stammering a bit, but that was very brief. My head's been hurting for an entire week, and pills have only made it sort of just hurt less, but not go away.

Having painful headaches for more than 7 days, tremors, or losing control of your body is not normal.

You may be having seizures. You need to see a doctor as soon as possible, as to find out what's suddenly causing these painful headaches and seizures. It could be very serious.

Edit for details:

Have you ever been diagnosed with high blood pressure? The fact that you find it difficult to speak for a moment afterwards also leads me to believe you could be having TIA's (transient ischemic attacks). They're like mini strokes, and could lead up to a real one. Please see a doctor asap.

Find a hospital or a clinic that accepts people with no insurance and get this checked out. It could be seizures, like the other people suggested, and it could also be a tumor. Either way it really needs to be checked out because there is help for both. It is NOT normal what has happened to you and I hope this doesn't happen while you are driving. I understand your concern of not being on the insurance yet at your job. If it is only a week or two before your put on, then you might be able to hang on until then...but if your looking at 3 months, then you need to go on right now and get checked out. I hope for nothing but the best for you....

You're aware of what's happening? It could be a petit mal seizure, or .........something else. I'm not a doctor or anything, but if it was me having these little episodes I would get into a doctor as soon as I could. It could be as simple as an inner ear infection, but it could also be something serious. How long would it take to get on the insurance? A day? If not I don't think I would wait....

Of course you should see a doctor but then I live in the UK and with don't get any charges at all for treatment, so it's easy to say. I hope you and your health service get better soon.

Take these symptoms very, very seriously. They may be nothing serious, but they may literally be deadly (e.g. developing meningitis). See a doctor today!!!
