I'm planning a 3 month trip to Europe and would like to know how much a typical train ticket cost. Not like Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul, but like, say, London-Paris, Monaco-Milan, Berlin-Hamburg.

I know there is no fixed price cos they differ with the distance and destination, but I want a rough estimate.

My budget is around USD$10K anyway. Do you think that'll last me a rough round trip around Europe for 2-3 months?

London to Paris - as low as 59 pounds if booked correctly. Sometimes round trips are cheaper than one-ways. Saturday night stay overs can reduce the price. Book tickets at Eurostar.com

Monaco to Milano (Centrale) costs 30 EUR and up. Check trenitalia.com

Hamburg Hbf to Berlin Hbf costs from 39 EUR (special fare - restrictions apply) to 62 EUR (full fare) on the ICE trains. Check www.db.de .

There can be no average price, for as you say, fares vary with distance. You might be best looking at a Euro-Rail pass. You can get one valid for 3 months. This site is directed at American travellers and gives you much more detail than I can here:- http://www.raileurope.com/us/index.htm

It depends where you want to go, there is no such thing as an average price ecause there is no such thing as an average journey.
