Oh wow-- I've lived in Mississauga for a very long time, and I am not sure which industries the other poster is referring to.

Much of Mississauga is planned community and residential and industrial kept separate. Having said that, there are a few close to residential areas so just don't live near them.

I lived in the Erin Mills /Streetsville area most of the time -- good schools, lots of activities for kids but it helps to have a car. When the kids were older and wanted to go into Toronto, it was a half hour drive to the Islington or Kipling stop.

Lots of walking trails and bike paths, and about 20 mins. from the airport.

There is a bus from the subway to Square One mall, but it takes a long time -- close to an hour.

If the kids go to U of T, there's a Mississauga campus or if their classes are downtown, then there's a U of T bus that goes to the downtown campus.

If they end up going to Sheridan in Oakville, it's better if they can drive.

Lots of shopping malls, theatres, bowling alleys etc

Now I live in Port Credit, which is on the Lake (Ontario) and I like it better for me, now, It's more geared to adults, though there are plenty of young families too - but more of a good mix of all ages and ethnicities.

Erin Mills is definitely more 'all-family' style, like the new part of Milton.

Milton is cheaper than Mississauga but it's a lot further from TO

Hope this helps.

Dear friend You have not specified your location in Scarborough Any way, take any south bound TTC bus and reach subway Take westbound subway and reach Islington subway station From Islington Subway station, you will get major Mississauga Transit buses Best way, once you reach Toronto, just ask any TTC driver or any employee of TTC either at TTC bus or at subway, and they will guide you They are relly friendly Note" Please take a TTC map from Subway station AND a Mississauga map from Islington station You will find your location, bus routes, subway routes and all useful info Until I had car, I always used to keep these maps with me whenever I step out of my home, and they are really really useful I am in Toronto

I'd pick Mississauga over Scarborough. Crime rate lower, more quiet.

Burlington, Oakville or Milton would be a better choice than either of them. They are still within easy access to the city via the highway, but with much lower crime rates.

Mississauga is home to some nasty industries.

Both seem way too suburban for me.
