All places already mentioned are good and I have had good results in all of them. My personal favorite is Rock Creek which you pass on the way to Mammoth Mountain. You exit Hwy. 395 at Tom's Place and there is about 13 miles of road that follows the creek until you reach Rock Creek lake. A little past the lake the road ends and there is a trail head there that gives you access to some smaller lakes a short hike away. For Trout fishing I prefer stream fishing and Rock Creek my ideal spot and the lake is good also.

There be a whole lot of good areas near Mammoth Mountain, Mammoth Lakes, Lake Crowley, June Lake Loop (which supports a number of fishin' areas), Hot Creek.
Link will provide ya' with a few more, along with other info..

Note : personal best would be Lee Vining Creek (listed in above link), which is excellent for both, "Bow's" and Brown Trout!! Right off Hwy 395, which is main throughfare for most all lakes and rivers in that area of Eastern Sierra's. Hope it helps annnnnnd "Fish On" ;)...

In the mamoth Lakes loop, I have had the best fishing ( fish caught + least amount of people ) on lake Goerge. Its getting late in the season, watch the weather. I have been caught in heavy snow earlyier than this time of year.
