If someone invites you to an adoption party to celebrate their finalized adoption for a child that's 2..... Do you take a gift for the baby or for the family? What kind of gift? I know a gift isn't required or is it?

It would be similar to a baby shower, if you want to bring a gift make it something useful for the child. An adoption is basically like the start of a new life for the family, much as the birth of a baby would be.

If it's a party, chances are that gifts are expected. The kind of gift or who you actually give the gift to is completely up to you. Chances are that the 2 yr old will get lots of gifts and won't really need anything. If you can think of something to give to the whole family -- that sounds like a great idea. I personally always try to give books as gifts whenever possible. There are lots of great children's books out there. You could find one specifically about adoption or you could just get any book you like. Go to your local bokstore and just browse in the children's section. Look for what you remember enjoying as a kid.

I would give a gift for both of them actually. For the child I would give an outfit, toys, etc. For the parents maybe a picture frame for there house, giftcard, house gift. I don't think a gift is required but I would bring one just to be thoughtful and happy that they invited you to show your appreciation. Hope I helped!

Definitely bring the baby a toy. It's kind of like a belated baby shower. A good childrens book or a new outfit to mark the special occasion is a good start in the gift department.

I'm sure it's not required, but I would take a gift. Something that's appropriate for a 2 year old probably. Maybe something for the entire family. A photo album, film, and gift certificate for film developing maybe? Anything that's for the child would be fine too I think.

I would take a toy or something suitable for the baby and then maybe a gift card for the new parents. Doesn't have to be expensive but it shows you want to help them celebrate.

I agree with everyone else, a small gift for the baby, and perhaps a gift certificate to a Photo studio for the family, or the offer of your time for free babysitting!

Ok, I have done 3 adoption parties, all for my three new siblings... Yes, people brought gifts. Mostly toys, or money. We adopted my little brother when he was 4, so he mostly got toys and money with cards. It is a great and fun time. Hope this helps!

I think a toy or money would be nice. You should bring a gift, it is the right thing to do.
