A friend of mine lost her husband 2 years ago, she had 1 child with him. They were a very well off upscale family...she had only met his brother twice during their 10 year marriage. Since her husbands death they started talking and grew closer over 2 years...eventually they started dating with the family's blessing. Now they are engaged to be married.
Personally I don't care as long as they are happy but I'm intrested in what other people think about this situation?
Is it wrong?
I know a long time ago it was considered "the right thing to do"
If your brother died you would marry his wife, but not so much these days.

I don't "care" I'm happy for them...I'm just curious if other people will have something to say because she's basically marrying her kids uncle.
I know they love eachother it's just different.

In biblical times, this was the right thing to do. In today's times, who cares? I think it's kind of nice.

I don't think it is wrong, it's a little odd considering our society today but it isn't immoral.

I don't think they are getting married because the brother feels some duty or obligation to his brother's widow, nor do I think that she would feel as though she is marrying him out of duty or obligation....

I mean, I don't know them, and while I think it would sound odd if this marriage popped up out of nowhere, it sounds like they had a normal courtship and decided that they were right for each other--which makes sense considering that the men were brothers and probably are similar (meaning that she likes the same thing about them) and probably had similar taste in women...

I say it is a bit of a blessing that the family didn't lose a son and a daughter-in-law in this tragedy....I approve.

I would feel that the child would find it awkward that his uncle is now considered his father. And if I were him I would never go out with someone that my brother married and had children with. I dont see much wrong with it but it is kind of awkward.
