Listening to a complete recording of some very long opera is good. Or the kind of suspense novel that I cannot put down. I haven't been on a long flight for four years now.

Laptop loaded with games, music, and movies + power inverter to keep the aforementioned laptop charged = happy me.
Or I see the doctor beforehand, get a prescription of Ambien, set my ipod to relaxing music, and sleep soundly through the flight.

normally i will not sleep before the flight, and sleep all the way through once on the flight lol.
but game console and some music would be great. with the technology now, there are consoles combined all in one, dvd + game + music etc

Sudoku? Word puzzles? Rubix cube? Magazines? A laptop? Some seats, even in economy, have a power outlet by the armrest. Check your airline website in advance. If they do, bring your cables with you to keep the DVD player running.

So, I try to find an interesting topic and start conversation with the person by my side. I only hope he/she doesn't chose to sleep while I m talking...

$150 and a dvd player later, I am set.
For the budget conscious, a good book suits me just fine.
Write a letter, surprise the heck out of someone in your life with an actual, hand-written letter!
