No, you don't need to visit the doctor unless you have more serious symptoms (such as unexplained bleeding). Lactose intolerance is very common, especially as one gets older. Basically your body no longer has the enzyme to digest the dairy products unless you ingest this enzyme (in tablet form from a drug store--it can be found over the counter). Without this enzyme, you experience the side effects you described. It's not harmful, just undesirable. The best way to avoid it is one of 2 ways: avoid dairy products or consume them with the lactose enzyme tablets.

I'm pretty sure there's no test that says you're lactose intolerant, so... Just always or frequently getting GI symptoms like you described after eating dairy is enough to say you're lactose intolerant.

You are in an area in which doctors are not much help. There is a veterinary that you might check with at dogtorj.com who has found that dogs have similar problems to humans with respect to the effects of the casein in milk and gluten in some grains. Also you would do yourself well to study up on Candida Albicans which can overgrow your intestine, making it porous; in turn causing all kinds of allergic and nutritional problems.
Good Luck
