No. The judge will continue to order your ex-husband to continue paying child support even if you have another source of income, such as SSI Disability. However, SSI might consider reducing your SSI payment due to another source of income if you report it or if they find out about it on their own. They will not reduce your payments so low that you can no longer make ends meat.

How can you get what?

IF you are trying to get SSI, apply for it and go through all the little hoops they want you to do.

If its child support, again....go through the child support agency in your area and register for it. It will go through and you'll be awarded X amount for the care of your daughter.

SSI is to care for you.
Child support is to ensure your daughter is cared for.

Neither should change the amount you get from the other. Each is looked upon as its own need.

Whichever you get first, go out and buy yourself a safe. Keep ALL medications in it. (I did ...trust me, you'll feel more at peace of mind by doing so).

And please, ignore those that claim you have no true reason to be on medications. Regardless of what 'certain' people try to claim, there are those of us that truly do have a need for the medications we are on and are not just looking for some lame excuse to get some hand-out.......because believe me, SSI is NOT the way to go if a person were.

They would look at the total income coming into the household. So, they could reduce how much disability you get depending on how much child support you get. You have a mental illness if you bipolar and borderline schizoid.
