Do they think they're better than us, and therefore not our peers, because they've been chosen by Satan?

Yes Em, they've been possessed, the whole lot of them. They sold their souls to be able to produce faster cars with music players that rewind, restart, fastforward, and skip through songs (those darn 8-tracks tapes just weren't cutting it anymore).

*sob* Tears are coming to my eyes now. I thought than when I officially traded in my Bible for my copy of "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection" I had given up all rights to being "chosen" by someone. I finally feel like I belong again. *sob*

And to answer the primary question, I sincerely apologize to the good church folk. In grad school, they honestly didn't tell us there was a church-approval requirement before I was allowed to publish my scientific research. Does this regulation apply to all areas of research or just the biological and physical sciences? Alot of my research pertains to mental health... where would I submit my work for approval? And is there one central religious approval body or do I have to go through each and every denomination to be able to publish my findings? I guess I just assumed that the church folk would go to the scientific journals like all the other non-research folk do to examine the evidence for themselves. I guess this explains some of the misconceptions about the scientific evidence that are sometimes posted on this site.

Someone please let me know so that I don't offend. The last thing I want to do is leave the Christian fundamentalists out of the loop of receiving new and vital scientific evidence that may have an impact on their perspective of the world.

No because a scientist is not a peer of a theologian. Different disciplines, therefore, not subject to peer review. Would you submit a PhD student's dissertation in theology to a professor of molecular genetics for peer review? No. Would you submit a PhD student's dissertation in autoimmunity disease to a professor specializing in New Testament studies? No.

The Catholic church does not control science now as it did in Galileo's time. Scientists can not be called heretics anymore, for saying the earth is round.
Religion doesn't control science at all now, and it is, as it should be.
Look up the definition of atheist, in the dictionary. No believe in god, no Satan, no heaven or hell.
No threats of damnation, to behave. We follow logic, and the law of the land, and the Golden Rule. Works a lot better than worrying about a mythical lake of hellfire.

How many Christians are qualified to have anything of use to say to people who have studied a particular course for 5, perhaps 10 years? Your opinions would contribute nothing and be biased.

And after that little incident with the whole "world is flat, sun revolves around the Earth" thing.. I don't think they really care to ask.

Are you completely loony? I am a scientists and I do not like plowing through scientific papers. You could not even intimate an understanding of an article in " Popular Mechanics ", let alone " Nature. " Educate yourself, then spout off.

Why would it be suspicious? They don't need the church's approval for anything. This the 21st century not the 15th in case you haven't noticed.

Maybe you should have looked up "peer' in the dictionary before posting that question.

The church's peers are all in first grade and even they are overwhelming the intellects of the church.

lmao And, just what would the church do with scientific research?!? The ones who say the earth is 6000 years old wants to get their hands on scientific research. Why? Do you need to paper your walls?
