All I want to see are the best drivers in the world come and try their hand at driving a stock car. Most other race drivers think it's easy. Lets see how these open wheel drivers cope with the change.

Are you at the track? Lucky you. I wish I was there too.
It's going to be interesting. Jr and Truex neither one ran real fast in 1st practice but Truex picked it up a lot in qualifying so I hope the potential is there for Jr too as far as improving his lap times.
Hornish Jr, Carpentier, and Villeneuve will give a sneak preview of their future. That will be interesting also.
I am always happy come race day. It's almost like an addiction waiting on the cup races to roll around each week.

If NA$CAR insists on letting cup drivers run and ruin the Busch series then this is what we get.
I personally don't mind. I have been a Villeneuve fan for many, many years now. Carpentier is a good fellow too. Seen him race many times. Hornish is from the state I live so I need to root for him too.
Once again though if you are a Busch driver and you finish as the top Busch driver in 10th or 12th place because all the cup drivers come in to race against you with there top notch sponsors and there cup pit crew and put a thumping on you and your buddies from back home you are not going to impress anyone to invest in you. This is what NA$CAR has done to this series and they better wise up and put a limit on the cup drivers doing this or the whole field is going to be full of open wheelers.

Yes, I'm so old that I remember when race drivers commonly hopped from one kind of racing to another. Mario Andretti went from Indy to NASCAR to F1, A.J. Foyt tried both NASCAR and Le Mans, Parnelli Jones went from Indy turbine cars to Baja. Anybody remember the Big Oly Bronco?
Hiring open-wheel drivers is the fad of the minute. I wish them all well, but most of them aren't in top-line equipment. It'll be interesting to see how many of the current crop are still at it in a few years.

They qualify lots better than they race. I hope they don't affect the outcome of the chase.
Villeneuve has averaged a 24th place finish in 6 truck races.
Hornish has averaged a 31st place finish in 9 Busch races.
Carpentier has only ran 3 road course races, no ovals in a stock car that I know of. At least one of them is going to make a mistake I fear.

I can't complain. All 3 drivers are getting a chance to get more seat time and more experience, which is helpful, especially since all 3 are planning on running full time next year. Plus, I think that if they can qualify, I am all for them getting the chance to race.

I agree with most of the folks on here who say that it is good that NASCAR is getting international recognition. Euro-elitists will have to stop looking down their noses at our sport at some point. I'm happy.

Bummed to see Mikey get aced out on freakin' owner points though he ran 31st.
Did I ever say before I HATE THAT STUPID RULE!!! I was really surprised to see Jeff Burton come out for a top 40 rule.
