Why is the 60 gb PS3 better than the 80 gb PS3?

Every time I read something about PS3, it always says that the 60 gb is the best console, even today, now that it's discontinued. I could be completely wrong, though. What do you all think? Thanks!

The 60GB has both the PS2 CPU and GPU in it, meaning perfect backward compatibility, like the early PS2s had with PS1 games and the Wii has with Gamecube games.

The 80GB has the GPU, but not the CPU, relying on software emulation. This makes it more like the 360 as far as backward compatibility is concerned.

Edit to respond to lalala below: How could anyone need more than 60GB on a video game system? Really!

the 60 gb ps3 is extra positive than the 80 gb because of the CPU and GPU (as said before) used to play ps2 and ps1 video games... yet won't be able to you adjust the hard pressure? so does it absolutely count number what number gigs it has? I absolutely have a buddy who used a 250 gig hard pressure inclusive of his ps3 and its the 60 gig style. so 60 gig is extra positive ( and inexpensive :]], yet i purchased it again at the same time as it changed into nonetheless finished fee :[[)

the 60 gb ps3 is better than the 80 gb because of the CPU and GPU (as stated before) used to play ps2 and ps1 games... but can't you change the hard drive? so does it really matter how many gigs it has? i have a friend who used a 250 gig hard drive with his ps3 and its the 60 gig model. so 60 gig is better ( and cheaper :]], but i bought it back when it was still full price :[[)

The 60GB PS3 is better than the 80GB PS3 because it has more backward compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games. The 60GB PS3 can play almost every PS1 and PS2 game ever made.

I have the 60GB PS3 and the increased backwards compatibility is very good to have.

The only difference I notice between the 60 GB and the 80 GB is the hard drive capacity difference and the prices.

It was the case that the 60gb had an actual PS2 inside of it, instead of the emulator that the other models had. I've heard they discontinued that one though.

ok... these people are all going to the extremes....

one is not better than the other.... it really depends on what you want....

the only real time the 60gb is better than the 80gb is in terms of backwards compatibility....

but if you dont care about backwards compatibility and just want to play a lot of games and put videos and photos then 80gb is for you....

The 80GB is better because of the sheer size of the games your saving. You can hardly store anything on the 60GB
