Yes...under certain circumstances, involving two things mainly:

1. They cannot be mutually physically attracted. I've had a female friend for years, and while others find her attractive, I do not - just not my type. Probably likewise for her, but I've never asked, which brings us to...

2. Both must be committed, honestly, to not letting it become more than friends. There are likely to be times when one or both of you is feeling down and a little physical consolation might be tempting, even if there's no real physical attraction. That will ruin things, period.

The exception is if the friend is a former lover/partner. In the case of my ex-GF, we were together for seven years, we both know we shouldn't have stayed together but we like each other - as friends. In the four years since there's never been any issue of going back.

It can be done but it is very difficult. Especially for young adults. There are time, in which situations arise that are pure romantic situations, and harmones kick in. Your socializing should be done in public, with friends. I have had a female friend since the 7th grade, she has married three time, and is a psycologist at a major univesilty. I am a retired long haul trucker. We are now 74 years old. It lhas been a wonderful, long term friendship with no real romance. Good Luck!

It entirely depends on the two people. I have platonic guy friends.

It could turn into more, it all depends on the two involved, where they want to go with the relationship, and what their goals in life are.

Men and women have relationships all the time where they are "just friends." However, most of those relationships turn into a romance, and while it is possible to be "just friends", it is hard. The closer the people are, the easier it is to fall in love.

Again, like 95% of the time it turns into something more. Good luck!

Not necessarily. I have a bunch of platonic guy friends that I never dated or had any romantic interest it.
I mean, of course I considered them once in a while, but never seriously. For example, my best guy friend, he is so weird and such a spaz, but he's a great guy and a great friend, yet, I could never ever romantically be interested in him. Gross.

But of course, if you two are good friends, then there is always a much better chance there.

Of course. Throughout my life I have had several close, platonic male friendships. Sometimes they are better than girl friends.

Absolutly. I have mostly women friends, and if I couldn't maintain a platonic relationship I'd either be exhausted or in jail.

There is no such thing as a platonic relationship between a man and a woman. There are only men and the women they haven't bagged yet.
