went to a con. went swiming on the last day in the inside pool at the hotel.was getting out and put my LEFT leg up at the ladder and put to much preesure on it that it cracked like a stick.

Time to see an orthopedic surgeon. This sounds like a very common condition called chrodomalacia patella. It occurs from wear and tear on the inside cartilage of the knee caps. Also common are meniscus tears. If you have a lot of pain this would indicate tearing of one or more menisci as well. Usually there is pitting instead of a nice smooth cartilage surface. Your knees become painful, feel wobbly at times and soon you'll need surgery.
