I'd rather have a mate that could make me laugh. Laughter really is important, plus, I can handle the financially stable part myself (as long as my mate doesn't throw away the money..)

Id rather have a guy that keeps me laughing, but then again money does make laughing easier. I mean, last week my guy and I joked around, laughed a bit, and he told me he loved me. This week, I woke him up(didnt mean to, he understood, but I felt bad), he was stressed out about other stuff. He wasn't in the mood to laugh, he was a sleepy head too. I just felt bad and sad because I couldn't help him out financially. Then I was sad too, so we just kinda said bye and that was it. But if he was boring and rich, life would suck also. So I still go with a guy who can make me laugh.

The jokes get pretty old after you've supported the jolly jokester for awhile.
The old pirates law holds true in my home. "Them that don't work, don't eat!"
I'm not a cruel tyrant and my partner only makes about 1/2 what I do, but that's fine. He works a full time job and pays his share. It's a matter of self-respect and respect for your partner also.
I know I'll probably have to turn into a sugar-daddy one day far from now, but net yet! Yikes!!!

My experience is that if you want to enjoy life, you have to live it. I'd much rather have a fun, interesting, meaningful, funny conversation with someone than enjoy someone's lack of personality and enriched bank account. Money isn't everything, it's not even something, it's just materialism and comfort. Fun comes from the experiences and emotions you feel throughout life, which can be with money or without it.

Why do you have to choose? We make the life we have through laughter and its the joy and hard work that's made us financially stable.

It has to be both. The mate does not have to be rich, but he has to work steadily and full time, and has to carry his share of the load. I have had far too many of the kind who live off their women instead of living with their women. But, he also has to make me laugh, often! *sm*

I have come back to this question several times now! I really need a bit of both! Be able to support yourself, but have a sense of humor is the best I can come up with.
