My sister's dog is a pug and about 7 months old. She moved in with me and the dog has pooped on my bed, ruined multiple pairs of shoes, peed on my bed, pees on my dog's bed that my dog lets him sleep on with her, peed on my blanket and chewed a hole in it. The first couple of weeks he had a couple of accidents and the poop on the bed incident happened and he chewed on shoes but things seemed to settle down for a month or so(i kept my shoes out of the way.) Then he started attacking my belongings and has started to pee on my sister's things.
He has never been a dog to let you know when he needs to go out so we have to walk him very often so he happens to be outside when he goes. This is okay but I think there should be a way to have the dog let you know(my dog makes it clear when she has to go.)
I think this might have something to do with the fact that since the weather has turned cold she doesn't crate him anymore and lets him in the bed.I need some advice to go to my sister with

**I just wanted to add that i don't blame the dog at all- I am nice to him and pet him and hold him and he seems to like me
** also I have always had dogs that let you know if they have to go out- i could accept him not letting us know if I didn't take him out, watch him pee, bring him in, and then sometimes pee in the house withing 20mins!

to howlarious
dogs seem smarter than small babies(at least adult dogs)
also you don't know much about babies- it is always good to check if they have pooped or are wet and feed them at certain times but if they are "poopie" or hungry between these times they cry!!!
I think dogs are smarter than you give them credit for and they can teach us a lot!

At 7 months old he is trying to find his place in the pack. When he pees or poops on your bed he is trying to take a position over you. Stop letting him force you to pet him. Do not let him lick or "groom" you.

The destroying the clothing and shoes is his boredom showing thru.

A crate is a good thing.... lol

all this is, is your sisters lack of training that is showing.
a dog doesn't "have to" let you know. you should be responsible enough to look at the clock and say, "hmm...fluffy hasn't peed in a couple hours, perhaps i should take him/her out".
not every dog will let you know when they need to pee. at 7 months this dog should be able to hold it 6-8 hrs. but honestly, do YOU hold it that long if you have to?

and this dog is obviously NOT properly potty trained or he wouldn't be pooing all over the house.
it's not too late for puppy classes and other obedience classes. i would also suggest a puppy/dog ownership class for your sister. (and you too, to get a better understanding about this dog, who is clearly misunderstood).

he is a DOG not a human..he depends on YOU for everything. it's like a newborn baby. they poop, they pee, they need to be fed, and care for..but no one expects a newborn to say "oh dear, mother im awful poopy, would you mind changing me?"

why do you expect a dog to do that, in any fashion? you're suppose to teach the dog not the other way around.

Edit:
okay princess, listen here. i have 4 children. i have 4 dogs..i've potty trained them all, (kids and dogs). and not every child cries when they are wet..they do that when someone has left them to long in a dirty diaper. And not every baby cries when it's hungry either, a baby on good schedule is fed before they can cry from hunger pains...seems you dont know much as you think you do.

you came on here upset about this dog...a dog that is NOT properly potty trained, if it was he wouldn't be PEEING in the HOUSE.
sometimes dogs pee more than once outside, because they are "MARKING" not peeing.
they need longer than a few minutes. take it for a walk around the block to drain it's bladder.

and i suggest you clean the spots he has peed properly, if he can smell where he went before he will MARK there again!

Your sister needs to start using the crate again... and probably continue until the dog is over 2 years old.

He may be going through some behavioral problems because of moving? Perhaps he's pissed about it all together?

Your sister can also make it her business to do a yahoo search for HOUSEBREAKING A DOG... because, apparently, she never successfully broke him.

take care.

For poops sake, you need to get tough about the crating situation. If the dog has nowhere to go but in its own bed, it might let you know it needs to go out.

He needs to be house broken. Go back to the crate training-if she's worried he's cold-give him a blanket. Also, being a male maybe he's trying to mark "his" territory-any chance she'll get him neutered?

she needs to get his hind end back in the crate. he is way too destructive to have run of the house, and he is in BAD need of some training. as long as hes allowed to get by with this stuff it will only get worse.

Housetrain him ASAP!! In the mean time use the crate, if she is concerned about it being cold put blankets in it, it'll be warmer and more comfy.

my brother in law is a vet and we have the same problem with our lucky. he suggests crate training alittle longer. some dogs are just alittle immature. definitely address it, it will only get worse. good luck!

try your local veterinary clinic and enroll him in dog obedience classes also known as puppy school. after that your dog should start listening to your sisternand if you go with her and have a go the dog will also listen to you aswell.

Yikes.....sounds like your sister's dog wasn't housebroken at all when she decided to move in with you. It's time she starts to train the dog....or move your sister and the dog out!!
