The test is not for His benefit but for ours.
With testing comes the opportunity to develop character.

God tests our faith for many reasons. Test are many times cumbersome, heavy, burdensome, but the end result is knowledge. When I look back over the years and recall the many troubles I have endured, I see a much wiser, stronger, and caring individual than I was 20 years ago.
The bible says in James 1:3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
4. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
We see in this case testing produces patience.
I'm sorry that I can't answer the question about why God created Satan. I do however have my own thoughts about these things, but I'll stick to what I know for sure.
I have not enjoyed the testing in my life, but I am glad for all of it.
God grows us in ways we cannot see. He loves us and that's enough for me.

God tests our faith to help us grow. If our faith is not tested that we would just stay were we are and never grow.. God created Satan- and it was the free will of Satan that caused Him to desire to be "like God" and our choice to sin against Him- would you have rather not been created, then not to have to chance to live and make the choice to live for Christ or not? I am a sinner that was lost- now through faith I am a new creation. Without testing of my faith, it would not be proven genuine.

What does being all knowing have to do with testing you? A teacher knows the subject matter inside and out, but they still test their students.
I don't believe in Satan so my answer is strictly hypothetical. I'd say that God created Satan to offer people "choice". Have you ever seen Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory? Well, Satan is God's Mr. Slugworth. Everyone thinks he's evil incarnate, but in reality, he works for the boss by giving the children the choice between good and evil in order to help the boss evaluate them.

God is NOT all knowing. This is Gods experiment, to test.
If he already knew, this world as we know it would serve no purpose!
God did not create Satan. Satan is a fallen angel (there were many)cast out of heaven by God. [At least in theory]
No one knows for sure about any of this. Some believe in God by Faith alone! Since God does not have mass and take up space, there is no proof that could apply to such an intangible concept. (Thought is in the same catagory, and yet we know that thought IS but still no Proof!)
Even science is nothing but theory. We know about the Effects of light , electricity and gravity, But not the CAUSE!
No room in here for my volumes of thought here, that would wind up controversy anyway.

First of All God doesn't test your faith. Lifes situations may test them but God doesn't, he just says have faith, believe in me and you shall live. Our faith is tested because of satan.
Which brings me to the next part of the answer. We don't know that Satan was created necessarily by God. We know that the heavens and the earth were created by him, but we don't know when his angles were or if they were created.

Satan was originally an angel that enlightened people by trial and tribulation (Read Job, it's as old as genesis or older). Over the years his role changed to a fallen angel. The same can be said of heaven and hell, they have evolved from the orignal Jewish beliefs to what the New Testament thought about them to what Christians now believe.

1) He tests your faith so that *you* will know where you stand in your relationship with Him. Testing your faith also strengthens your faith so that your relationship with Him will grow.
2) God created Lucifer -- a perfect and beautiful being (Ezekiel 28:11-19). Lucifer, by his own choice, turned himself into satan (the accuser of the brethren). (Isaiah 14:12-17)

OK you have two questions here.
First: God doesn't "test" us as it were. He does in fact already know where we stand with Him, but He shows us where we stand so that we can see what progress we've made in our walk with God and what we need help with.
Second: Satan was a creature that had freedom of choice. God doesn't need robots; He enjoys the company of those who want to be with Him, not forced to.

Um no. Did he stop 9/11? The Holocaust? Cancer? There is no such thing as a god. The human race I'm sure will kill themselves with nuclear war or have an asteroid that will do the job for us. God doesn't fit into the equation.

as far as testing our faith, to prove how far we can go to us, to help us to understand why he gives us the level of trust he does or doesn't, so Satan can see and know. Why did he create Satan... perhaps we'll never know. I guess we realy don't need to.
