you probably will receive more letters from different banks for credit cards. it does not matter if you applied or not. if you recently purchase on-line or bought anything dealing with credit, say buying a car(new or used),a cell phone or utilities ect. expect those kinds of letters, get rid of the ones you don't want. your address and name is put into a data base for potential business for any company, depending on how big the data base is. it is telemarketing by mail.

bc/ of your age that means you have a very small credit history so until you become more established with the credit reporting bureaus they will dock you some points (though minimal) for applying for a credit card until you have that history. This throws a big warning sign out though bc/ once you have a credit card as easy as you may think it will be to pay the balance back - they are SNEAKY little buggars. For example, most companies will increase your interest rate if you have a late electric bill payment (no joking around here). Also, the best way to get started is to request a small minimum balance of about 250-500 dollars. That way - even if you find yourself in trouble with payments it won't be life-breaking to pay it back. The difference between your small loan and a credit card is that your small loan was probably a fixed rate which the companies don't make very much money on. Credit card companies will stop it nothing to make is easy to spend and hard to pay back. If you want to help your credit best try piggybacking. It's where you get your name added to another person's credit card (most likely a relative/parent) that has a low balance and high limit. This will increase your score without you worrying about spending bc/ you can just have your parent or relative cut up the card when it comes in the mail so you never use it. If no one will do this for you than definitely try for a small limit card to start and don't get carried away. I was told the famous last words "if you don't have it in the bank, don't spend it on the card" and foolishly messed up thinking I could pay it back later and now I've been on credit counseling for a year.

You need to try again to contact that bank and have a rep look that information up for you (from my experience if you press zero enough, you can bypass the 'enter SSN' part and the system should transfer you to a rep). Now to say up front, the rep will likely need to pull the information by your name, SSN and/or phone number. That's they key info they would need to try to locate the account, if there is one. That way they can tell you when and how the account was applied for, and so forth. If it turns out that you did not apply for the account, or you don't remember applying, then the rep can close the account and request it removed from your credit report (if the account was opened and used, the same would happen, and the account would go through a fraud investigation).

Read the letter again carefully and slowly. Sometimes it is just a junk mail, but it can be a scam for you to call, but I am glad to heard that you are smart enough NOT to enter your SSN. But if you are still worry about this, you should get a free credit report to see if Credit One Bank had inquire about your credit recently. Also note that, there are two different kind of inquires, one is that the company is just getting your mailing info to sent you marketing junk mails, and one is YOU actually applied for a loan or credit card. You can tell from the credit report. By Law you can get a free credit report from each agency per year. In your case, I suggest you get ALL three reports at this time because of your concerns, because not all credit card company used all three of them, so in order to see this particular company did inquired your credit report, you need get all three. It would be free for all of them....go to the link below to get them. It is the official website set up by the Trade Commission. Good luck with this issue!

I get these all the time - it is just the credit card company trying to wheel you in saying that you are 'pre approved' so you will call and start a credit card with them. You shouldn't be too worried about it. You should always get a yearly check up on your credit report though. There is a web site that I recommend - I personally use it every year, https://www.annualcreditreport.com. On this site you are able to look at your credit report once a year for free just to check on everything. It is a really good idea for everyone to do this!

Its not a thing which you need to ignore. Maybe your documents are frudulently used by someone to apply for a credit card and you are unaware about it. You need to raise a dispute for this with Credit one bank and ask for the original form on which your signature is.

Check your credit report and see if Credit One Bank has done an inquiry and/or opened an account for you. If so, your identity has been stolen. You will have to call them and straighten out the problem right away, even if it means giving them your social security number. They already have it anyway.

Yes. Be concerned and get a copy of your credit report immediatley. You are entitled to one free copy per year. I would also get a hold of Zander Insurance for Identity theft insurance. They will assess your situation and provide suggestions. You cannot afford to take this stuff lightly anymore as this criminal activity is growing rapidly. Good Luck

I sounds like they are either trying to scam your SS# or someone has tried to start an account in your name. You might want to check your credit report to see how many other cards you have that you didn't know you had.
