Last night my Dachsund was in my sons room and was laying under his comforter for about an hour sleeping. Then she suddenly jumped up and off the bed, her back legs were like jelly and she was shaking all over. She wouldn't lick us and acted like she was stroking out. After about 30 minutes of this unusual behavior, we let her outside to see if she needed some air and she had a bowel movement right there in the flower bed which is totally something she has NEVER done before. She then walked around the yard trying to get her bowels to move again, really weird, then about an hour later she ate two small bowls of her dog food. Could she have had a seizure or what?

She is 9 years old. She has been fine and acting like her usual self since.

It could be a lot of things including her legs "falling asleep". If it were a seizure, the vet will tell you to mark the date on a calander and do the same if it repeats. If seizures are happening more then monthly, then some sort of treatment will be suggested. At nine, a full geriatric blood panel is a good idea anyway so there is a base for later tests so you might consider a full exam just to be on the safe side.

Either a seizure or...

A few years ago a bunch of dogs in the neighborhood died after showing signs like this. Some weird dog disease. Basically, their legs would stop working, they'd start pooping or peeing randomly, and drop dead in a week. Take it to the vet ASAP.

Dachshunds are very prone to back problems, and jumping off/on beds seems to be the number one cause. She may have hurt her back a little when jumping. I definitely wouldn't let her jump off the beds anymore, and if she still seems like she is in pain...take her to the vet!

How old is she? If she is getting old, she might have had a seizure. She might be getting too old. Sorry. If she is not old, then it might have been that she got too hot, or something didn't agree with her stomach. But you DEFIANTLY NEED TO CALL THE VET! NOW!
