HI,
Your dog will be pregnant for about 63 days ... so what will the weather be like for the puppies. They will probably be inside with the mother in a whelping box until they are 4-5 wks old... then hold on hannah as they start to grow so very fast.

You will want to be able to introduce them to the outdoors. I have no idea of your living area but weather plays an important part if in the North.

Good Luck Hon
Hot dog

In the Deep South, the cold season is the best time of year; in the north, the worst time of year (but neither is all that bad). Bred indoors or not, it won't be long until you will be taking them outside (basically as a form of socialization - the more places they are in the better keeping communicable diseases in mind, though). As for whelping, a floor temp of 75-80 F degrees is ideal but the 70s are fine. Heated puppy pads, heat lamps, or space heaters can be used in the winter to accomplish this. Just tune out the better then thou crowd - asking them not to reply, even though their replies violate Yahoo policy, just isn't affective.

You should first make sure you are breeding for the right reasons and you know you will be able to find the puppies homes.
It is okay to breed when it is cold outside, because a dog is pregnant for around 63 days. If it is cold when puppies are born, you can always put a heating pad with a pad on top of it in the whelping box to keep the puppies warm.

Well, if you know what people are going to tell you what to do and you don't like the answers, why do you still ask about that question? Why don't want to get her fixed? It's better for her health. She doesn't need a litter to be a better dog.

as long your dog is at least 2 years old it is fine to breed her in the winter time, actually if your dog is a pure breed and you are thinking of selling them, then winter time is a better time to find buyer's because in the summer people are so busy with Vacations and such,
I hope this has helped and make sure you screen your buyers very well, and know where your puppies are going, if you have any other questions please feel free to email me at hunterdog_34@yahoo.com

If your dog is in heat, then you can breed her whenever. Please be sure your dog is at least 2 years old though. It's very hard on their bodies before then (a 13 year old may be able to conceive, but that doesn't mean her body is ready!). Since you don't want to hear "don't breed" then I suppose I won't say it. Others will do it anyway most likely.

Maybe it is not what you want to hear because you know it is true. No seriously if you don't know the answer to this question and you are asking it on here rather than a vet or resposible breeder maybe you are not ready. Please take a look at the millions of homeless animals we have and then tell me you really want to bring more into the world. And seriously examine your reasons for why. I dare you to volunteer at your local animal shelter ONE DAY and still want to bring more puppies into this world.

I think it's more difficult to do puppies in the winter. Maybe wait til spring?
I'd find someone nearby who has your breed of dog and get to know them. They can be a wealth of information for you. If you wait, you will have more time to learn about your plans and how to succeed.

As long as you have a comfortable warm place for her to have her pups, then it doesn't really matter what time of year it is.

And I wish I had the God complex that made me think that just because I say something is wrong, it is automatically wrong. Jeez people,,,doesn't it get tiring being so self righteous all of the time? Don't you feel like just separating yourself from the presence of such idiocy? Please feel free to do so, or else you may get soiled by us evil, cruel, impure people....run quickly! before you are tainted.....

So you are already aware that you shouldn't be breeding if you are so lacking in knowledge that you would need to ask such a question on the internet and you choose to ignore that it will simply be ignorantly adding to the millions of ignorantly bred dogs winding up in body piles, shelters and rescues in this world every year...

Yes, cold time is a bad time to breed your dog... so it hot time and warm time and cool time -- but you knew that already and just want someone as ignorant as yourself validating your unethical self-serving desire, huh?
