Oh, I suppose he did have something to do with our "religion" though I am sure he did not know it at the time. For it says in the Bible that God can use all things for good...even the evil things. I mean, think about it...God is ALL POWERFUL and can do anything He wants! Of course He can turn the worst act of hatred/malice into a beautiful revival or even better, a blessing that affects a whole gathering of people and where thousands in just an hour come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!! Lucifer was trying to hurt Jesus in any way he could. He thought he really had Jesus this time when He was sententced to crucifiction. Then he finds out what all of this actually did, and he flies into a rage of fury and embarassment.
PS- Would you like me to start having everyone call you OrangePeel? Probably not. Not your name right? And so, you are using a term that is totally contradictory to anything Satan does, ever did, ever will do, or even believes in. You are calling him "Follower of Jesus Christ" Lucifer. Now, last I heard, that was NOT TRUE.

I don't think they are. But linguistically English speakers who have not studied enough hagiography and are not familiar with the good Saint might be understandably confused. As the link you provided says, "hasty references by enthusiastic 19th century biblical scholars assumed from the name that the Luciferians were Satanists. Therefore, although his cultus has not been suppressed nor his canonization reevaluated, he is not often celebrated or spoken of in the calendar." Italians don't seem to have this problem: see http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Lucifero
In short, it's a bit of a fake problem you pose, unless of course your point is to make some sort of 'funny' about the Saint's name, and the history of that name in English.

That's interesting, I've never even heard of the guy before. I feel sorry for the guy for getting such bad recognition. It's not his fault he was given an unfortunate name. Thanks for the information, you learn something new here every day.
To some of the people above me; read the link! You've got the wrong Lucifer. Sheesh.

I think it's because they've long touted him as "evil" & since christians are supposed to be "good" they aren't allowed to give him the time of day except to badmouth him! Really, where would their faith be without poor old Lucifer to hang all their woes on?!
*drink*
Oh! Heh heh, wrong Lucifer. But still, he did so much for the church! Weird!

Unfortunate name. But at least his canonization remains intact and he still has a feast day. Check back in and remind us on May 20.

Is the Catholic church the only one you refer to as being "Christian"? Totally uninformed as to what constitutes a Christian by their own definition. Catholics deny a lot of their history but it is still unfair to paint all of them guilty today for something someone in their church did in the past. I am proud of the history of the true church of God. True Christians have always been willing to live and to die for the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ without compromise. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can make anyone a saint by the way.

I'm not ashamed of Satan, just sad for him. He had everything, but threw it all away cause he wanted something that was not his; now he is wrecking in my life cause I'm a Christian, but you know what, that just means I'm serving our Lord.
