I rescued a boxer puppy that is 16weeks old and ways 10lbs. How can I get him to gain more weight and get him back to a healthy weight. I went to the vet today after just saving him yesterday at 00:00am CDT. The checkup came back great he has no medical conditions except his head tilts alittle. This is my third boxer. I have a female thats 10months (eats adult large breed Purina One), a male thats 7months (eats adult large breed Purina One), and now the little pup that is only 16weeks (eats purina one puppy and also 1cup of puppy gold formula from Petco). Is there anything else I can do to help him have a better chance at surviving? Since he is a pup he does sleep alot but is very active when I am outside with him. Please help me if you can, even if its suggestions about different foods, formula, etc....

I disagree with Emily. I have had alot of different dogs before. I have fell in love with boxers. My female is a healthy 60lbs., the older male is 50lbs.; both of these I had since they were 8weeks old. Now this new puppy I could not see being put to sleep. I decided I can help and my local vet is helping they stated that purina is okay for him and that buying formula was a good thing as well. So if your comment is about giving him up just dont post because in the last 24hours he has gained 2lbs.

He'll be fine. You took him to the vet and you're feeding him puppy food (which is especially important because he is underweight).
The only thing I would suggest is maybe getting him a more high quality food. Purina isn't as great as people like to think it is, and FYI I used to work at Petco. Save yourself some time and trouble and just buy nutritional food from a reliable brand and follow the instructions.
Your pup will thank you later!
Also how many times a day do you feed him? You should probably be giving him about 3 meals at this point. And the above suggestion about Nutrical is a good one, but you don't need to get that from your vet. You can probably pick it up at a pet store for less money.

When we got my Boston Terrier puppy, she weighed less than two pounds at eight weeks, and the best thing I can offer, is we fed her a lot of fat/protien foods. Whenever we had Chicken casserole for dinner, so did she. It was always healthy foods, never junk food, but if it was something healthy that would add protein to her diet, she got some. Now she's about a year old and weighs fifteen pounds, with no fat on her, she's very active, and doesn't have any health problems. The chicken and turkey she got as a baby helped her build more muscle and she's doing much better for it.

i think of a rescue is definitely risk-free plus you steer away from the puppy subject concerns. human beings aggression and dogs aggression are fullyyt seperate subject concerns and one would not relate to the different. The attack on the smaller dogs would have been a "safeguard my family contributors" pass. a youthful yet mature dogs could have already got some preparation and you may greater right away coach the rest. basically be beneficial to tell the rescue what you're searching for for in a dogs's character and temperament and that they generally artwork relatively tricky to make the nicely suited tournament. Their purpose is to discover the wonderful in fantastic condition for the two certainly one of you so as that the dogs has a loving, constantly residing house which would be waiting to maintain him for existence. BOL!

You can try...

Plain yogurt with blueberries
Raw chicken with a raw egg

Anyways, make sure that there's not corn in the food. Corn in animal food is a filler and provides nothing for the animal, they can't digest it.

Also, give him small meals throughout the day, not a whole bunch of food at once. And any diet changes, do gradually, or the dog will end up with diahhrea.

You could get them all off of the Purina and onto a better quality kibble.

You might consider a higher protein food.

get nutrical from your vet. it is a high calorie treat and gives them a little bit more energy. just keep feeding him food, the right amount of course. Hopefully he'll be okay. good luck!
