I am going to perm my grandma's hair and I don't know if I should give it a little trim first. Everyone knows how lots of older women wear their hair, and the hair on the top of her head is about 3 inches long. Should I give it a little trim first so the perm is better. How long should her hair be? Hope that makes sense.

Perm first, then trim. The perm will 'shrink' her hair and all you should have to do is lightly trim ( 1/4" ) her hair. good luck.

Perming first and then trimming cleans up any damaged ends and keeps it from getting frizzy.

Perm, blowdry then trim

when hair is curled/permed it appears shorter, so it may be better to keep it longer so there's enough to perm.
