Babe Zacharias was no slouch. Not sure about her name spelling.

Right Now Jack Nicklaus Is The Greatest By Virtue Of The Fact That He Has The Records Now. But Make No Mistake When All Is Said And Done Tiger Woods Will Have Them And God Willing Jack, Ever Gracious, Will Be There To Congradulate Him.

The Golden Bear was amazing. His battles with Arnold Palmer were just amazing. Those two were both some of the greatest to ever pick up a club. Jack is a real class act.
Tiger Woods is fantastic. He may very well break all of Jack's records. However, the golf club and ball technologies have improved since Jack's time.
The 70's was a magic time for watching golf. Seeing all those legends walking the fairways was pure joy.

This might be splitting hairs, but I think Jack "was" the greatest. Now, I think it's Tigers turn. Just like before Jack came along, it was Arnold, and before him it was Hogan, Snead, Nelson, Jones, etc. It takes a while to beat the best, it took a while to top Jack, it'll take some time to top Tiger but I think someone we don't know right now will do it eventually.
Although, arguably there was a gap there in the late 80's/early 90's. Maybe The Shark? Maybe even Faldo? Maybe Tom Watson? Hmmm, great question.

Tiger is the best, by far.
His winning percentage in awesome, especially on par 72 courses.
His competition is MUCH better, and his is still dominant.
He hits the ball much further, and putts better than Jack.
It’s just a matter of time before he owns all the records, baring something tragic.
In the 98 Masters Tiger was 20, dumb argument.

i completely disagree. Tiger is by far the best to ever play the game. Lots of things in sports are debateable, i dont even think this is one of them. Tiger is ahead of Jack at the same age in about every category you want to look at. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that Tiger will pass Jack in majors and tournaments won. besides that, the field is so much better now than it was in Jacks day. Today in golf, there is a field of 144 players in a big tourney and it would not be surprising if any one of them won. In Jacks day, there were a few guys he had to beat, not 143!
ADD: you may be right by saying that as of now, jack has teh records, making him the best. Until tiger passes them, i wont argue i guess. Tiger will set all the records.
As for the argument about technology being better now than in the past, the rechnology increased for the entire field, not just tiger. Scoring records may not mean much, but as for winning tourneys, technology doesnt mean anything because the entire field is always using the saem equipment

Jack certainly earned his place as the greatest, however Tiger is ahead of his pace and when all is said and done, as hard as it will be for older people to admit, Tiger will be the best. Tiger has also singlehandedly made golf popular to play for everybody. With all due respect to Jack, he played when nobody really cared.

better than the Morrisses', better than Hogan, better than Jones.

diverse situations, diverse gamers. Like in baseball, you cant say that todays greats are greater valuable than Babe Ruth. In golfing Jack replaced into the wonderful for his time. Tiger is going to have greater wins then him on the tip of his occupation yet who's to assert that he's greater valuable then Jack?

I don't know about that. I think when Tiger's career is over he will have made records that will be nearly impossible to match.
