I have a problem with my family (siblings and mom)...when my dad passed away they didn't wait for me and my children. We live 800 miles from them, and we missed my dads funeral service because they wouldn't wait for me. I've tried to forgive them but I wonder deep down inside if I've truly forgave them. This happened five years ago and it feels like yesterday.

Many of us have to stay away from certain family members, not necessarily because we don't love them, but for our own good. I have a family member who thrives in hurting people, he never has anything good to say; he's always looking for ways to make me feel bad. If he visits someone who has a nice house, instead of being happy for that person, he is bitter and starts making nasty comments...it's just sad to hear him talk bad about everybody in the family who is doing better than he is, and to realize how unhappy he really must be. All about him screams negativity, jealousy, sickness, bitterness, and hate, disguised as sadness; he always blames his behavior on everything he's "suffered" throughout his entire life, because he says nobody else has gone through anything compared to him. He cannot stand seeing other people happy; it just infuriates him to see people laugh or smile or displays affection. For my own sanity and health, I have to stay and keep my loved ones as far away from him as possible. It's really sad because for the longest time I tried to get close to him, but he pushes people away.

For 2 of the 7 years that my brother has been here I avoided him.
Eventually I forgave him for all he's done.

I don't see most of my family. I decided that I did not have to take their crap just because the were related to me.
