Cicero, Abraham Lincoln, and J.R.R. Tolkien. It's been those three, and only those three, since I was 17 years old.

Cicero because he proved that the pen was mightier than the sword. He was the greatest intellectual in the history of the world, I think, and I based my life's work off of the ideals he made a reality.

Lincoln because he was a sickly, manic-depressive man who had incomparable ambition, and he knew that he was no better than anyone else, and sought to make others understand that.

Tolkien because instead of devoting his life to a world which was dying fast, he created a world of his own, to show the people by example how they were leading themselves astray. Also, he and I were born in the same city. :)

No one you would know. My heroes are a couple I met who live in Ecuador and are working to reclaim cloud forest from cattle pasture. They live without electricity or a car. They walk miles to get anywhere. They grow their own food and live a beautiful simple life. Their hard work is paying off.

i love the opinions of chirstopher hitchens, sam harris and richard dawkins but that's probably because i share their opinion. I also think sam harris is sexy. Otherwise, I like these guys because they are willing to think for themselves and stand out in the crowd. I love it when people hold unpopular opinions and are not afraid to state it despite risking isolation, getting ostracized and being unpopular. Those are the people who end up being the leaders of change in our society
