My guess is that this dog will hit about 60 lbs. as an adult, and that makes them on the high end of medium in my book. My 2 1/2 yr. old, 115 lb. male was 50 lbs at 6 mos., definitely a large breed.

It's generally recommended that you not feed an extremely high protein food to large breed puppies. I imagine what is more important, however, is the amount of protein. If you take a food that 20% protein, and you're feeding 4 cups a day, thats 0.8 cups of protein. So it seems to me one way to compare foods would be to multiply the recommended amount by the proportion that's protein to caluclate the amount they're actually getting. Then, I suppose if you wanted to be picky about it, you might adjust that by how bioavailable the proteins were. I'm not a nutritionist, but that makes sense to me, somehow. A lot of foods will give the caloric content, based on cups or grams of food, so that might be another adjustment you could make.

A dog is considered "large breed" when it is 50+lbs as an adult. A Border Collie would be considered a medium breed. Labs are considered a large breed because most of them weigh in at over 50lbs as adults.

A large breed dog is any dog over 50 pound at adult weight. since you have a mixed breed dog it will be hard to tell right now what the adult weight will be.
22 pounds at 4 months old is a good sized puppy! I might consider him large breed. Labs are large breed dogs. I would go and be safe and consder him in the large breed sizing.

Large breeds are like blood hounds, irish wolf hounds, great danes, even some rotties. I'd definitly say medium sized. There should be a weight chart for the food and it'll tell you what to classify the dog..evo is a pretty good food otherwise tho!

my border collie is 3 1/2 yrs old and she weighs about 52 lbs she is a med size so your pet will most likely be about the same more or less.they are very smart and loyal.she is not a big eater and takes her time with food. she gets around 1/2 cp of lamb and rice canned plus dry food in her dish all the time and i also give her a sandwich made with cheese or meat, them i give them left overs at supper. she is spayed and is a perfect weight.she loves to swin, walk and play but she hates being left alone when i go out even though she has 2 playmates. she destroys my house so i have to put her in her cage when i leave for a few hrs. she is my protector and will not let any one near me they are a good pet when trained well good luck.

medium. he'll probably be a very active adult. just make sure you don't go on what's on the dog food bag. it's usually way too much. We have 4 Border Collies and Border Collie mixes. We feed about 2 cups of food a day as adults. He'll obviously eat different as he grows. Good luck and make sure to exercise or he'll start to drive you crazy :)

Border Collie/Labrador mix would really be considered more towards Medium sized, in my opinion.

I have seen a large breed Labrador though (110 lbs), but it's not that common, apparently. I would consider Chow Chows & Rottweilers ''large breed''.

No. It seems to be more of a medium-sized dog to me. I have a german shepherd/lab mutt that was only 60-70 lbs. at about 5 years.
