Apples, Apricots, Cherries, Peaches and Plums: Who knew so much good fruit was bad for your dog? The seeds of these fruits contain a type of cyanide compound- not poisonous to us, but toxic to our dogs. Symptoms include: dilated pupils, hyperventilation, difficulty breathing, and shock.
Please be careful and consult your vet about ANY people food before feeding your dog.

My dogs eat a lot of apples too. They seem to be fine as long as they don't eat like 100 a day. The seeds could become poisonous.

apples are great for your dog, and my beagle eats one a day. Raw carrots, peas, most fruits and cucumbers are okay for them too, but steer clear of the grapes, chocolate, candy, chicken bones.
Best to feed the dog a good diet of dog food and supplement it with fruit or veggies as treats. In the summer, its hard to get our dogs to eat anything that isn't in the garden. They live on the raspberries, carrots, corn, peas, pears, apples, cukes, and broccoli.

I've also heard that grapes are toxic for dogs, but we had a dog that loved them and they never made her sick. Fruits and veggies are generally safe (stay away from onions, though). Have you tried bananas? One of my dogs loves them.

Grapes and raisins are NOT safe, they cause kidney damage. The fruit from the apple is fine the leaves and roots are not.
