because there new
the springs are all new so there not like weak or bending
but when you use then the springs get pushed down and they stay down for a while so when they rise up again there not as high as they were

I do not know, even the lousy mattresses are high too. We have to think about it. it is not like clothes or food. so the prices stay somewhat reasonable. A Mattress we will purchase in our lives once maybe twice in our lifetime. Plus we need to sleep and when we sleep we want good sleep.
