Not really, however, many people tend to breed dogs as a hobby. They usually have other jobs that they perform that pays the bills.

Honestly, there is no money to be made from breeding. You won't have to live in a box but more often than not you will always lose money. Breeding dogs responsibly is NOT a business, it is not a profession or a livelihood. A business is something done to make money to live off of...this is not what breeding is. If you do the responsible thing, and come out of it making a profit, you will be very lucky.
No particular breed earns good money. Think about it. There is a HUGE supply of dogs from every breed out there from people who breed irresponsibly by just throwing a male and female together and waiting a couple of months. Thousands of the puppies that result are sent to shelters every day, and the demand for dogs (regardless of breed) is so low that over ten thousand of them get put to sleep every day. There just isn't enough room in the shelters. With high supply and low demand, you just can't price your pup too high.

I bred dogs for 30 years. It was like putting money in the bank for a Christmas Club and when the holiday arrived (litter sold) you get it back with a little interest.
It afforded us some nice Christmas's and vacations with our 3 sons.
You need to breed either a popular breed or a scarce breed. Make sure there is a market before you choose. Buy you parent dogs wisely. Make sure their health is guaranteed in writing. Give your pup buyers 3 working days to have their pups examined by a Vet. I never had ONE returned. If a pup has a defect such as a hernia. You discuss it with the prospective buyer..lower the price to cover surgery, etc. write it into the guarantee. Be honest and up front. Raise them in your living room..have a good Vet. Don't get in over your head. One litter at a time..not 10.
People still have a RIGHT to choose their dog..not accept a mutt if they don't want one. don't let the critics shame you on this. Most of them own purebreds..Good Luck!

No - get a real job. If you do it properly you can't make money from breeding dogs and if you don't do it properly, why do it - so you can be the best worst dog breeder around? There are many other professions where you can make more money by being unethical and uncaring that don't add to the body piles of unwanted dogs in the world.
Please reconsider your desired profession - no body dreams of growing up to be a crack wh*re or a puppy miller/back yard greeder -- there is a reason for that :)

Okay, dog showing and breeding is a hobby. Many people work so they can afford this hobby. I have a full-time job so I can enter my dogs to various shows; maintain my dogs in conditions and proper vet cares. Also, no specific breeds can earn you good money. If you want to be successful, you need to learn how to handle/present your dog, grooming, study the breed standard and select an exceptional dog for yourself. People show because they love the breed, not for making good money.

some rude people huh? then again everyone has their opinions. such as me. if you are looking to make money, you need to find a dog that is known to be expensive. a doberman(which needs alot of socializing and good training) with parents that have a good championship will cost alot of money, sometimes about $2,000 and since the parents are champions it gives the pup a good rep i guess! i have a dobie and his ansectory has a great pedigree, obviously any purebred dog that you breed can be worth a good chunck of money, if you register it with the AKC. usually just because they arent registered they arent worth more. why i dont know? i guess its to show proof that hes a purebred. i bought my pup for $450 and got his ears done for $200, so if you breed something like a doberman where you can crop the ears, that makes that dog worth more. you see alot of people selling dobies for more money when they crop the ears. especially when they are pups! and there are alot of good breeds out there, there are alot that are sold for good amount of money. it just depends on if you want a small or large, or one that is easy to train and has a great temperment such as a golden retreiver. although i hope you know that breeding can be expensive, puppies need shots, de-worming, frequent vet check ups.etc. if you can devote your time to do this, (which is great), make sure you do some research on breeding. it can be tough, as far as there could be a runt in the litter, some pups may die, and you have to really keep an eye on them just to make sure everything is going well, and clean up after them (as they get older it will get harder), usually you cant sell the pups until they are between 8-12 weeks old. its differant in every state. well hope i gave you a little bit of some useful information! hope you find the breed your looking for!!

I suggest you breed stuffed dogs. One can NEVER have too many stuffed animals around!
As for REAL dogs, I suggest you do not breed at all.
I think you are a troll and just asking this question to piss everyone off.
There is only one reason to breed and that is to continue a specific line of one breed of dog that has proven itself beyond worthy of producing puppies, in order to carry on that line, which would include healthy and sound, to the standard, temperamently sound, and having passed all genetic disorders certs.
Notice that most breeders do not follow this, even the "responsible" show breeders. This is why we have overpopulation.

No dog will earn good money. All the money you earn from ANY breed, will go directly BACK to the breed. Health tests, vaccinations, any medical care during pregnancy/whelping, and so forth.
You WILL need a primary job to support the dog breeding.

I also think you should breed out of knowledge and love for the breed. I think you should prepare for the expense and time commitment for breeding dogs.
