Offering a wider variety helps. A lot of sick cats will immediately eat meat baby food, the jars are around 89 cents each, but it's ok for them so long as there's no onion or garlic in it.

You can get some Kentucky Fried Chicken and take the coating off and offer broken up shredded meat from that. A lot of cats love the smell, the stronger smelling it is, the more it interests them. I've had good luck with it.

You can go to a pharmacy and ask for a wide nozel syringe to help feed your cat. This has no needle, it's a big barreled syringe about 5" long and you suck up liquified cat food (add warm water and mush) and syringe a quarter teaspoon at a time into the cat's mouth from the side. Do it slowly, the cat needs to eat not choke.

I hand fed warm cat food to one of my very old cats for two weeks till he felt good enough to eat on his own. I'd take 2-3 tablespoons from a can, warm it (NOT hot!) and use my fingers with half a teaspoon at a time that I'd put in his mouth. He ate it once it was in, he was very good with that. The cats we have now wouldn't work with this though. It depends on the cat.

You do need to get food going in, any food, so try the baby food first, it's usually the best and easiest to start. I did have luck recently with a large can of Evo cat food. It smelled to high heaven, but the cat liked it and ate that when he turned his nose up at everything else. It cost $1.59 a 12 ounce can.

Feline Leukemia cats are very ill cats and can end up with all sorts of medical problems due to their compromised immune systems. Eye issues, kidney failure, etc, etc, etc. And once they get sick they tend to go quickly downhill. Sorry to say this, but I know because I've been there. I adopted a kitten that ended up FeLv positive despite her being supposedly tested. She died within two months despite about $900 in vet bills. FeLv is a horrible, horrible disease.

How did you end up with an FeLv cat? And if there are other cats in the household I'm hoping you're keeping them COMPLETELY isolated from this one? FeLv is VERY contagious and an incurable and most often fatal disease. I would take this kitty to a local shelter. They'll see if whatever's going on now can be helped but the prognosis is probably not good. Sorry :(

Do what you can. Purchase canned food, and see if that interests him. Try to make his food more interesting.

Why did you inherit an Feline Leukemia positive cat, if you cannot afford the vet? That type of cat is almost guaranteed to have a vet visits be a requirement. Talk to the clinics about potential payment plans.

Try mixing baby food in with his dry food. Warm it up and he may eat it. Also, get some of the really smelly cheap cat food, like fancy feast, and warm that up. Fine a shelter or humane society that has a vetrinary clinic. There has to be one in your area. They will usually provide vetrinary care for people who cannot afford to take their pets to private vets. I'm sorry about your kitty. Good luck.
