I had same exact thing i was able to sleep about 10 hours a night and then for about a week i had to wake up much earlier than usual so i was getting about 7 to 8 hours a night. OMG what a difference it made.I was waking up refreshed, much happier and not tired at all.But that is just what worked for me.Try couple nights of sleeping less, set an alarm and see if it will make a difference. If that doesnt work then maybe it's something health related and you would have to see a dr.Good luck, wish you all best, and sweet dreamzzz

There are many reasons why people may wake up still tired after many hours of sleep. The most likely explanation is that your hours in bedtime are ineffective and your brain is not resting. Some of the causes have been already mentioned: OSA or obstructive sleep apnea is one of the most common ones. Other causes such as restless legs syndrome, periodic movements of sleep, central hypopneas or apneas, narcolepsy, etc can be excluded with a sleep study. Most of the causes can be treated. If untreated, long term sequelae can be harmful for your health.

Do you snore? Maybe you don't think you do but the people you live with could tell you differently! If you snore you may suffer from sleep apnea in which you stop breathing while asleep. If you are prone to respiratory problems, you may have low oxygen saturation when you sleep, which leaves you feeling tired during the day. My son has problems with low saturation when he's sick.

If you think you have sleep apnea, go to your primary care doctor and ask about being referred for a sleep study. If you get alot of respiratory infections, purchase a pulse oximeter which will measure your saturation. You can have someone else do it when you're sleeping and find out if your saturation is low. The oximeter is like a chip clip that clips onto your finger. It only takes a minute or so, it doesn't puncture the skin or hurt. I got mine from Southeastern Medical Supply in South Carolina.

Were you always sleeping 10 hours a night or less than that? Did you change your sleeping surface? Sometimes if you sleep longer hours than you normally could get sufficient rest with, you get that effect. Also, sleeping on the wrong surface will make you tired waking up and if you continue, it'll eventually show up as back ache. I know cos both happened to me too and I learned my lesson.

The real answer is this; you just need to sleep until you are not tired anymore. Your body is telling you that it needs to regenerate itself. For some strange reason people think that the purpose of life is to interrupt our body's resting process to get up and dedicate our lives to some corporate venture till we drop.
Well the truth is life is not about that and in fact it's the complete opposite. We should sleep until we are not tired anymore and we should eat when we are hungry, not when some buzzer or bell tells us we are hungry.
Unfortunately society has fallen into the mechanism of corporate greed and have naively become part of the process or in reality each individual a cog in the wheel.
Until society realizes that the human species has been enslaved by mindless corporate conglomerations people will continue to live meaningless lives.

Sleeping too much can make you more tired. Try setting your alarm for only 6 hours and do tat for a few nights, then get 8 hours MAX and youll be fine, also work out in the mornings and it will help you get ready for the day and make you feel energized!

You might not be getting enough vitamin D.
Believe it or not but without enough sunlight, you can get really tired all of a sudden.
Try taking some cod liver oil capsuless.
Even though there gross :P
Either that or try to sleep a little less each night, or try to change your routine.
Like go to bed early wake up early.

First let me answer your question with a question. How old are you and are you on any medication or do you drink? If you are in your teens then this can happen. If you answered no the the other questions, than you could have sleep apnea. Go to www.sleepapnea.com Read about it and see if it applies to you. Good Luck!
