you're just going to pick an answer from a non-atheist (the question is directed at atheists) who confirms your way of thinking? How many answers where there from atheists that answered the question honestly (like she asked)?

My question is: what's the point of asking a question like this if you're just looking for someone to validate what you're already thinking. It seems like she was just looking for someone to confirm her preconceived notions as opposed to actually asking the question because she was honestly looking for answers. This is Yahoo ANSWERS, not Yahoo Confirm-My-Beliefs.

I'm not "outraged" by it, as someone pointed out. I'm just wondering why people do this.

There is no point. Isn't that sort of the point, that there isn't one. What's your point? My point is this: Pointless.

'She' was the perfect example. LOLz
24 thumbs down in the perfect answer ... 25 now.

"I'm just wondering why people do this."
I think it's based in insecurity - people, especially theists, need constant validation of their delusion and its basis - 'faith' is built on such shaky ground (?) that any piece of LOGIC is like a slight breeze gusting and attacking a house of cards.

There's good money to be made from religion, Selling it or Treating it, IF you can keep a straight face.

I just feel sorry that they'll never experience the type of freedom one can only enjoy IF you know there's NO invisible man watching everything you think, do and say, 24/7.
It's little wonder Psychiatrists and Psychologists make an absolute mint, especially from USians in US, helping sufferers of Paranoia and other Psychoses.

I have noticed that goes on in here a lot. from both sides.
Some one will ask a question, and if your answer disagrees with them, then they will call names or say you are stupid or what ever, and then pick an answer that agrees with there point. But if you ask a question and ask for honest answers, then you should except the answers you get, with out name calling. But as for best answer, I don't answer for that reason, I answer with the way I believe.

This happen all the time. People pick answers that they wanted, before asking the question. I don't give people what they want a lot of the time, so my best answer percentage is down. I do give good answers though.

It is a rather silly thing to choose an answer that doesn't even come close to answering the question.... but perhaps the whole point of asking wasn't to with the intention of hearing the answers but instead only to have the question discussed.

What's upsetting to me is the answer she picked best.... Was that a load of dung or what?

I chose that answer because I agreed with it. I never said an atheist would get the best answer....why does it matter to you?

And...I did read and consider all the answers.
I didnt need validation because I believe what I believe ...youre opinion will not change that....and if you REALLY wanted to know...why not email me?

The whole question was bullocks. Atheists believe there are a lot of things more powerful than humans.

Remember the best answer is not always the right answer. Keep answering, who cares bout the points?

Excellent point; looks to me like someone who is seeking a little external validation - not very healthy, and shows a lack of self-esteem.

A better question is what's the point of caring what they do?

Besides, most people in R&S do this - they choose like-minded responses I think.

People have done that forever, idiots they are. Thanks for pointing it out though, the guy that got it is a pain in the @ss, always good to give him another thumbs down when he was the one that got chosen and not one of us.
