In my opinion it depends on the maturity level of both parties involved. By no means is it just "wrong" it is just not the "norm" . In some cases it can be wrong if the older one is trying to take advantage of the youner one or if they are a perve and the person just luckily is 18 (legal)

BUT......

It is possible that the 18 yr old is extremely mature and may have been in one of those families where she or he had to grow up quickly due to circumstances and the 40 yr old may still be a big kid, as I know many of them....it does not always mean the older one is a perve....

As a matter of fact when I was 20 I dated a 40 yr old for awhile and he was very nice to me. I happened to be the kid who was forced by circumstances to grow up before I would have liked and prob had the maturity level of a 28-30 yr old at the time and the guy was very youthful and "hip" and we actually made a very good couple. He treated me better than anyone my age did that is for sure!

The only reason we broke up is that he got scared when he was 10 yr older I would not want him anymore and leave him for a younger man. In reality I do not think that would have happened but that was his fear. We broke up, remained friends and every once in a while run into each other and he has told me he regretted what he did but we all have our fears and everything happens for a reason.

I would not discourage you from dating someone due to age because in my opinion it is what is on the inside that matters and how you feel about one another. If you and your partner are happy who cares what anyone else thinks? They do not live your life.

You know if it is right or wrong and if your feelings are sincere on both sides go with your heart.

Well I don't see anything wrong with it as long as your sure of what your getting into. Make sure that whatever it is that your feeling is true. If this is really what you want to do, be patient enough to make sure that he's not out to take advantage of you, your not a ho and he's not your pimp. Make sure that its real and not a fluke because you will definately regret it. You can learn a lot from an older man if he has a good head on his shoulders, and you might find an older man to be more patient with you and less unstable. Be prepared for your peers if you do become involved with him, most of those outside looking in at your relationship will have a lot to say. So, you have to be strong! I hope you make the decision that is best for you, for it is your life, your feelings, and your heart and no one elses. Take care!:)

Its legal. BUT WHY? Why would you want a 40 year old? You will not have anything in common you grew up in 2 totally different times. Sounds like a the girl has Daddy issues.

I would wonder about the relationship she has with her dad...I married a girl 18 yrs younger and it was a great relationship..the best I ever had..she had a spirit of youth she shared with me and I had life expereiences I shared with her..But I think it was an exception..Depends on the people involved and if they dont have a healthy perspective only a matter of time...

Legally yes. But for the love of..........ugh, WHY WHY WHY would you want to do that? You have nothing in common and you could be with some really hot guys right now....why on earth would you want a guy that was older than you are right now (23) when you were BORN! And you can forget having kids with him, if it got serious.

Gross. Gross Gross Gross.

It's legal. I wouldn't put a lot of hope on the relationship lasting. There is just too much of an age difference. Once rthe new wears off you two will drift apart.
