some animals (like birds) have no reactors to the "capsicum" in the hot peppers. it is the thing that makes hot peppers hot. Dogs and humans do have the receptors but I really don't know if your pet has them or not...if they have the receptors then they won't eat the hot peppers. Don't go crazy with the really hot ones, try a banana pepper first.

Maybe your book means bell peppers.... I dont' think I'd give him a hot & spicy pepper.

Chilis are hot peppers. Chili powder is ground up dried chils.

Some peppers are chili peppers (jalapeno, serreno, habanero to name a few) and some are bell peppers (green, red, orange, yellow to name a few.

Per definition, ALL peppers are chilis... some are hot. some are not... for the pet, I would not give him the hot varities.
