Well buddie the best answer i can give you is this

Tuba- great for deeper parts, although you have to be great in keeping time and you dont get much melody in concert pieces

Saxophone- very fun instrument. Ive played the bari for 4 years now and i loove it. Alto's do have a lot of melody but i would watch out for more competition

French Horn- It's very cool fun to play and all, but obtaining the right embouchure may be hard because you've played the oboe and french horn takes alot of embouchere to switch from lower and upper octaves

Clarinet- The clarinet is a very sweet instrument. They do also have a moderate amount of melody. Although like the alto you may have some competition. The Clarinet has a great range from lower and upper notes

Bassoon- I would suggest this to you because they are double reeded like you. They also have a very sweet relaxing sound ( but it is very hard to play )

Flute- Is very sweet and delicate. I would also suggest this because the notes are some-what similar.

Well i know thats not all of them but i hope i narrowed it down some-what. Well good luck, and remember STAY IN BAND!!!

Any instrument will be work and a total change. Choose something you REALLY want to learn. If you have a passion for it, it will be worth the work. I play the flute and alto saxophone, I chose alto because the fingerings are the same, but I dont enjoy it as much as if I had chosen an instrument I had a passion for. I would have loved to learn the french horn. Pick anything you want, I've heard that oboe is one of the hardest instruments, so anything should be easier compared to that.

If you want an "easy" transition, then go with clarinet or sax. Similar fingerings, but diff embouchure.....but if you want to go crazy and learn something completely different then go for it!
