I am interested in Algaculture and I want to know what to feed the algae to get optimal growth. Any ideas?

They need the same things as other photosynthesizers, namely sunlight, carbon dioxide, nitrate, phosphate, potash, and iron. Basically, if you set up an aquarium with good lighting, gentle water movement, and add a few drops of plant fertilizer (or aquatic plant fertilizer like Flourish and a few fish) you'll have everything you need to grow algae. Depending on the type, you may need specific substrates (wood, limestone) or water conditions (high or low pH, specific macronutrients).

If you have a real interest, also consider trying some saltwater algaes. I keep 3 saltwater tanks and macroalgaes are some of the more interesting things that most aquarists don't grow:

You can also make a simple DIY carbon dioxide injection system to improve algae growth: http://www.qsl.net/w2wdx/aquaria/diyco2.html

Yes, just drop it in the tank, may be in the corners, and your algae eater won't take much time in finding it.!
