When the Holy Spirit of God moves and brings forth a living Word of God for all to receive. A living word of exhortation, edification and comfort. Yes, God inhabits the praises of His people and He watches over His Word to preform it, whether in a Church service or in our times of prayer and devotions. Yet His ear is closed to them who reject him and the power of His Spirit...

Years ago, before there was an Internet, I had a vision of people attending an electronic service....from remote locations.
At the time, the only technology available to do that sort of thing was a big conference call. It could have been done, but would have required a lot planning and arrangement with all the parties involved. Clearly, it was not time yet for this vision of electronic religious gathering to come to fruition.
Now, all these years later, that time has come.
Right here, on the Internet, right now. This is the most exciting thing to happen to Christianity since I don't know what. People are having electronic comparisons of dogma and theology! Even gathering in prayer over the Web!
Televangelism is old hat compared to this. In Televangelism, a preacher needs an expensive TV studio and broadcasting facility, as well as airtime. It all costs money and requires a lot of public donation.
E-vangelsim (Web evangelism) requires only an Internet hookup. A preacher with a word to share, the Word of the Lord, to expound upon the Gospels, can get his message out....just like this.
So, obviously, my favorite kind of service is the new one you are looking at right here....the electronic congregation!

Depends. I've always liked free-form contemporary worship with a band and all, but then I'm a musician and I grew up in the '60's and did a lot of CCM in the 70's and 80's.. I've had some great times in Pentecostal churches and with African American congregations. But in the past few years, I've really come to appreciate liturgical 'high' worship too. Been to a couple of Catholic weddings in the last year that were very moving.
Hoping to go to Haiti within a couple of years. I hear worship there is something else.
I guess I'm happy anywhere I know people are really worshipping and not just going thru a ritual.

A praise and worship service in a Pentecostal church...I love when we sing songs and then the room will grow quite,,,we'll be singing "Jesus, Just the mention of your name"...and everyone starts singing very quietly and all hands start being lifted....you can feel the room being filled with a move of the Holy Spirit...a few will start speaking in tongues, quietly,,,,there's a hush,,,as if something is about to happen,,,all eyes are closed.....then someone gives a message for the church in tongues....someone else interprets.....what a blessing....everyone goes home, knowing we have been touched by the Spirit of God...

My favorite church service is when the church building is empty. Everything is so quiet, any sound is amplified. I will come before God alone, and then I will pray. At some point I begin to find answers to things that were bothering me. I feel like I've been to a wise counselor. I walk away refreshed.

If you sarcastic types (Daph) don't belief in religion or spirituality, then why are you even answering these questions? Clearly, you must feel inadequate if you need to try and get attention that way. How pathetic! At least go into more detail so we can try and understand your hopeless viewpoint. You may want to check out the Atheist posts, sounds like that's more up your alley. God have mercy on your soul!
My favorite are the Christmas services.

The Traditional Latin Mass. It is a solemn and devout worship of God, and all attention is on Him.

I was raised Catholic and I loved the Stations of the Cross. That and the donuts after mass.
