It can lead to depression most definately.
I blew my back out at 18. Up until then I was very active in sports, parties, working out, everything.
After the back thing and surgery, my backcould not handle football. I lost my college scholarship, couldn't compete in state track competitions and it completely altered my life.
That can be a huge change at 18.

If you let it get to you. Just think about the positive things. I'm 15 and I just got more x-rays done on my back for my scoliosis. My scoliosis started hurting when I was in a bus accident when I was 13, but I don't let it get to me. Just think of the positive things. If you start not wanting to go out, you eat less, don't enjoy things you used to love, then go see your doctor and talk about some antidepressants.

Yes. It could be due to lack of exercise or because you've had to let go of some of the activities you enjoy. A chiropractor may be able to help get you back on your feet.

Yes, pain makes people depressed.
But don't worry, you will be BACK again.
Sometimes people need things to laugh at.

When every move you make hurts, it's depressing. You are lucky to be 18 and never depressed. Welcome to the club.
