I think it is against their religion to show an image of Mohamed.
This is a quote from the site listed by one of the previous posters:
"I saw this film when I was working and living in Brussels in 1979. Most of my friends were North African, ergo Muslim. When this film came out, we all went to the Bourse Cinema. The film itself was very enlightening, and the fact that Mohammed himself was never 'in the picture' (so to speak) I found contributing to the profoundness of the film. What really struck me was that when in the film religious (holy) verses (like psalms) were sung or played, the whole audience would reverently sing along. Very moving."

There was one produced in the USA, titled "Mohammed, Messenger of God". The Nation of Islam got busy and it never made it to the screens.

Who is Mohammad? Isn't he the god over the middle east? Look at how bad living conditions in those countries are. That whole region has been at war Forever. I feel that any movie made About God should be good enough. I have never saw a movie about God in a Muslim country.Want to see movies about Mohammad. Go to a Muslim nation. That is where you will find them.

Maybe because all those you mention are fictional characters and noone has yet admitted to Mohammed being fictional, which he was not, although some of his stories may have been.
The 1967 movie of Islam was nominated for an Academy award.

Maybe the followers of Islam think that no one is fit to portray Mohamed and people who don't follow that religion are afraid of what the terrorist fringe of the religion of Islam might do if they made a movie.

do you seriously have to ask? I mean come on, why would hollywood have ever made a movie about islam. Since the moment islam started white people, especially jews, have been scared stiff. i have to wonder if this was more of a rhetorical question or not.

Ask the Muslim moviemaking community.
P.S. The guy that stated the above statement is right! There would be radicals that would burn the theatres and create terror. Right on. Mohammed cannot be drawn.

It would be considered blasphemous by the Muslim religion...something about not making images of him.
There was a big hooplah about some poltical cartoons published in a Danish newspaper.

I seen one a couple of decades ago.. but the movie was like seeing it through his eyes... I don't recall the name of the movie though.. I also recal a movie about Jesus with the same angle.. as seen through his eyes...
either way they are both fictional.
