Yeah, it will eventually happen. But it will take thousands of years for this to be true. The edge of California is moving into the ocean about as fast as the Swiss Alps are getting taller. Every continental plate is on the move somewhere, but we're talking eons for something like this to be completed.
Also, I'd rather live here in CA, where we have earthquakes every 10 - 20 years, instead of somewhere like Florida, where they have hurricanes and tornadoes every year.

Yes, California is overdue for a big earthquake..but it is NOT going to fall into the ocean. Don't be dramatic and ridiculous! I guess people live in California for the same reason people still drive cars even though they are one of the leading causes of death amongst young people. Also, people still fly in planes even though they can crash, they still eat food, even though it could have pesticides, E. coli, and poisons on it..they still breath the air even though it has pollutants in it, they still take showers even though they could slip and fall and break their necks doing it. People still live in areas where there are volcanos, storms, hurricanes, tornados, floods, moonsoons, tidal waves, etc. People cannot just vacate an entire state because of something that will happen SOME day. Do you expect people to live their lives in constant fear and not live normal lives because of something they cannot control? Sounds like you have a lot to learn.

Well human cycology tells that people may do that but, all people suffer either way-
When your moving you have the hassle of finding a house, buying the house, living and getting used to the area of the house.
Now lets say 5 years later it happens, an earth quake strikes, boom- But your house survives and it wasnt even near your home town.
That would really piss people off. And thats what they think right there when scientist say that will happen.

Earth quake is a natural phenomenon like the death of a life. No one can predict the happenings. An increase in seismic activity in any regions of Italy does not predict absolutely an Earth quake. It is nothing but a symptom. Any kind of harsh punishment for lacking in information of Earth quake based on seismic activity is unethical and illegal.

The most simple answer is because business set up shop in California and people go to where the jobs are. Capitalism is the reason that people live in California.

Have you seen what has happened to the east coast lately. The Midwest has tornadoes and flooding. California has fires and earthquakes. Have to live somewhere and every place has natural hazards.

Apparently you've never been to California. The sun, the sand, the beautiful countryside. All of those are great reasons for risking total annihilation.
Oh yeah. And the people there are nuts.

They are going no where no matter what, see all the fires this happens every year, thousands of homes lost, people homeless, loose everything, but still don't leave, and probably never will.
