I know fresh is out of the question, but I would like to find some that are not shipped from as far away as south america. Tom Thumb grocery has some but they look like they have been mishandled big time. Also they are real small (dime and nickel size) I'm used to cooking quarter size. Any suggestions??

I have been in the DFW area all my life. I would not buy Scallops at a regular grocery store. I would recommend going to a Whole foods market (there is one at Lamar and Collins, In Arlington) or going over to Ft. worth to Central market. If you love food. Central market is the place to go, it's like an amusement park for food lovers. And on Friday nights they actually have bands outside.

Any frozen seafood dept has them, like Sam's or Costco.... also Albertson's or Tom Thumb or any of the large grocery stores

If you want fresh ones, hit Central Market (HEB) or Whole Foods.

aside from the local grocery retailers, I recall just south of downtown Dallas was a large Farmer's Market with several seafood purveyors in the vicinity. Wish I could remember jusy exactly the market was, I know it was south of I45.
